Our 2nd Butterfly is born.

Well literally at lunchtime yesterday we only had 1 butterfly. When the kids got up from their naps a 2nd butterfly had emerged. The kids are so excited to have the butterflies. They have asked if they can bring them to Nama when we go to visit next weekend. So, we will see if we have some that hatch and maybe they will make a trip with us to Mount Prospect.

Our 1st Butterfly is born.

Well, today has been quite a stressful day for me with the kids. Not much listening going on and way too much sassiness. And then at lunchtime I went to check on our caterpillars and look what I found. Some light has been shed on my day. I can't believe how beautiful this butterfly is. It is a Painted Lady Butterfly. I think I could sit and stare at the butterfly all day.

So, we called Nama to tell her about the butterfly and she asked what it's name was. We had not even thought about a name. So, Nama gave us a suggestion of Lucy. Meggan wanted to call it Meggan. As I would expect nothing less of Meggan wanted it to be just like her. :) So, we will see what they decide on. They also thought of Spots. We are real creative. LOL

Enjoy! In the picture below you will see one of the chrysalis to the left of the butterfly. That is another caterpillar that we are waiting to see transform.

ROOOOAAAARRRRs go out to Uncle Jim from Jack, Meggan and Ally. Today is his 39th birthday. Big day for the big guy!!! One more year to be over the hill. Here are some classic Jim pictures for those of you that have not seen my brother in awhile. :)

In the words of our great red head Rusty, "WE ARE GLAD YOU WERE BORN!!"

Kisses Jim. LOL

Kiss Fest 2008

Our sweet Ally is known to have quite the pucker up when she wants to give out a kiss. So, on Sunday she came down from her nap all puckered up and ready to hand out kisses to anyone and everyone.

So, that being said it got the kids in a very kissy mood. Enjoy!!

And she climbs again....

Well, apparently what Ally went thru with her last climb has not stopped her. Here is a picture of Ally climbing up on the kids picnic table. I was right there watching her the whole time and she knew it. She was yelling to our neighbors Bryne and Lukas who who taking a ride on our Hammock. Oy ve!!!!

Hard to believe 1st injury in 18 mos.

Well, Miss Ally has finally had her first real injury from climbing. She decided to climb on a box that was close to a table and fell. She smacked her mouth on the corner of the table on her way down. WOW did her mouth bleed. So, here are some pictures of what it looked like a day after it happened. She was quite the trooper considering. And how about that this was the first major injury she had. We are not sure what she did to the inside of her mouth but it is all white and cut, so we are assuming her teeth must have cut it. I guess it had to happen at some point.

Check my wings Mom.

Here is a funny story about a conversation I had with Jack last night. Sometimes I tickle the kids shoulder blades in their backs because it makes them laugh really hard. One day Jack asked me what I was tickling and I told him I was checking out his wings to see if they were growing. So, now he has come to like to have his wings checked fairly often. He always wants to know when will his wings come out and we always say when you go up to heaven with GG (Grandma Marion) and Auntie Meggan. He likes to know if his wings are growing because he says he will need to have really big wings because he is so big. HAHA

1 Set Bites the dust...

Well, one of our sets of Caterpillars have already passed away. We are not sure what happened, because the other group is really thriving. But, I called the place where we got them from and they are going to ship us new ones out today. How great is that!!!

Miss Independent

Ahh I just love that the kids get themselves dressed in the morning. It is a new thing for Meggan to get herself dressed before she even comes out of her room. The below picture is what she picked out today without waking up Ally. Meg has been pickingout this top for weeks and I keep saying no do something different. She always picks it out to be with this skirt. She wears whatever her little princess heart desires. So, does this mean she dresses like her Papa or her Great aunts??

Caterpillars have arrived...

So, I decided as an end of summer project to order the kids some caterpillars. I ordered 10 because I was not sure how many would actually make it to butterflies. Here are some pics of our little fuzzy friends. Jack and Meggan were very excited when they got home and saw them.
They have lots of questions and comments about them. Jack thinks some of them are worms and not caterpillars, but after some long reassurance he agrees now that they are caterpillars. They will become Painted Lady Butterflies. Jack said he does not want to let them go, but I explained if we don't let them go then they will never get to have babies. Then he was okay with it. So, we will continue to show the progress of our new family members. Here is the link to where we got the caterpillars from. And they do sell refill kits so once you have the cage then you can just reorder more caterpillars when you want them.

Freckle Check

So, Jack is following in the footsteps of his older cousins Jimmy and Molly by having freckles. He wanted me to do a close up picture of them and wanted to share with everyone. For a closeup of the freckles click on Jack's picture.

Enjoy the freckles!!

Bubbles Bubbles Bubbles

So, last night I came home from physical therapy and the kids were playing in the backyard. Chad was cutting the grass in the front yard and told me they were all playing back there. So, I walk around to the back to see what they are getting into. There stands Ally in a tray that is full of Bubbles. Yep, the kind of bubbles that the kids blow. The kids have dumped the container of bubbles into the tray and she is standing in it and is covered up to her chest in bubbles. Her legs were all white with the suds from the bubbles because they must have been rubbing her legs to get it that way. And little Ally stood there with the biggest smile you would ever see. Our next door neighbor Bryne was all bubbbled up too. Bryne is just 2 years old. So, she and Ally are quite the pair. So, I bring Ally to the front to show Chad. And he says I did not tell them they could get the bubbles out. REALLY??? I would hope he had not poured bubbles into a tray for them to mess with. What a day. But, at least they had fun!!

Nama and Papa Visit

This weekend my parents visited us in Combined Locks. It was a great visit and the kids really enjoyed having them here. They were so excited to show them the house and it was good to just hang out with them. Jack played baseball with Papa and Meggan played Soccer with Nama. It was a great time. Below are some pics from the weekend. Next weekend we will be driving down to Mt. Prospect to stay with my parents. They will get to see their cousins and are very excited to see them. Check out the slide show I put up that contains the pictures from our vacation to the Smoky Mountains.
