Well the Pontow family seems to spend a lot of time at Doctor offices lately. And this is not just the kids. :) I had an MRI and CT Scan on 4/4/08 and found out this week that my labrum (cartilage ring in the shoulder joint) is torn. YIPEE! NOT! And what are the solutions for this problem you ask?? I could continue with physical therapy in hopes that the muscles would build up around the torn cartilage and make it better or have surgery to stitch up the tear. Yes, I wish Physical Therapy could be the solution, but I have been in a month of therapy now and most of the time I end up in more pain after the session and then just start feeling better by the next appointment. But, at least I know why now that was happening. The problem for me with just continuing down this P.T. path is that it is not really a permanent solution. I could continue to have a throbbing sensation in my shoulder for the rest of my life. I think it would be a real test to my patience to do that.
So, then surgery it is. I am meeting with a different surgeon on Tuesday to see what he says. This is actually the surgeon I was supposed to have seen in the first place. So, we will see if is assessment is the same as the previous doctor. I will say though if you are looking for an orthopaedic doctor, the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute is an amazing place. Click here to see all the places they have offices in. I will keep you all posted on the never ending activities of the Pontow family.
Take care and hope everyone is staying dry in the rain. And did you hear? Snow possibly this weekend, poor Jack and Meggan looks like Soccer season will be delayed another week.
