Red Light Green Light

Hello to all! Well, I saw Dr. Chams today for my shoulder and he gave me a cortisone shot. He would like me to continue with therapy and hold off on surgery for 6 weeks. He wants to see if the physical therapy will help. Even though it causes me more pain. But, I will go with it because he is supposed to be the best. Plus, he does the most labrium tear arthroscopic surgeries for Illinois Bone and Joint Institute. So, we will see what happens. Quite the waiting game these days. But, that's life.

I will have to update the site with some new pics of the kids. Been a long time since I did that, but its been a bit hectic in the Pontow household. Take care and love to all!!

And the beat goes on....

Well the Pontow family seems to spend a lot of time at Doctor offices lately. And this is not just the kids. :) I had an MRI and CT Scan on 4/4/08 and found out this week that my labrum (cartilage ring in the shoulder joint) is torn. YIPEE! NOT! And what are the solutions for this problem you ask?? I could continue with physical therapy in hopes that the muscles would build up around the torn cartilage and make it better or have surgery to stitch up the tear. Yes, I wish Physical Therapy could be the solution, but I have been in a month of therapy now and most of the time I end up in more pain after the session and then just start feeling better by the next appointment. But, at least I know why now that was happening. The problem for me with just continuing down this P.T. path is that it is not really a permanent solution. I could continue to have a throbbing sensation in my shoulder for the rest of my life. I think it would be a real test to my patience to do that.

So, then surgery it is. I am meeting with a different surgeon on Tuesday to see what he says. This is actually the surgeon I was supposed to have seen in the first place. So, we will see if is assessment is the same as the previous doctor. I will say though if you are looking for an orthopaedic doctor, the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute is an amazing place. Click here to see all the places they have offices in. I will keep you all posted on the never ending activities of the Pontow family.

Take care and hope everyone is staying dry in the rain. And did you hear? Snow possibly this weekend, poor Jack and Meggan looks like Soccer season will be delayed another week.

Will it ever happen???

So, Jack's Tonsil and Adenoid surgery has been rescheduled due to some conflicts we have with it being on 5/8. So, now we will be shooting for the surgery to be on 5/15/08. We will going to a Brewers Game with all of the Pontow's on 5/10, so we did not want for Jack to have to miss that baseball game. Oh well. It is what it is.

Other than that things are okay. Jack and Meggan had a nice little throw up fest at the house, in the car, at the doctors office, etc. etc. etc. What fun for mom!! Looks like they have rotovirus.

Calagon take me away...........
